Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace was the guest on the latest episode of NPR’s “Fresh Air.” On the program, she and host Terry Gross discussed Grace’s new memoir Tranny: Confessions of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout, transitioning, growing up in the Florida punk scene, and more. They also talked about Grace’s HB2 protest last year when she burned her birth certificate on stage in North Carolina. “Goodbye, gender,” she declared at the time. Later in the conversation, Grace spoke about her feelings about her dead name, as well as her relationship with her daughter. Listen to the full interview below.
