Listen to Amanda Palmer’s Ridiculous Dance Track With Sarah Silverman, Patton Oswalt, Neil Gaiman, More

Amanda Palmer and Brendan Maclean have shared a new song called “On the Door.” She has called the song one of her “most ridiculous things to date” as far as “pure tongue-in-cheek dance mania absurdity” goes. You can listen to “On the Door” below.

The track mocks friends who ask artists to be on a show’s “guest list.” The song features Sarah Silverman, Patton Oswalt, Neil Gaiman,  Reggie Watts, Ben Folds, Craig Ferguson, Eugene Mirman, Kirsten Vangsness, Mike Posner, Neil Gaiman, Noah Britton, and Sara Jones, all as friends that ask Amanda Palmer if they can get on the guest list.

Palmer wrote that when writing the song they “kept thinking of ridiculous people to add to our absurd list ‘obnoxious guest-list needing friends.’” The song was partially inspired by Thor Harris’ (of Swans) essay “How to Tour in a Band or Whatever.” You can read the full story of the song on Palmer’s website. You can download the song via Palmer’s Bandcamp as well.

Earlier this year Palmer and Maclean shared a cover of “Laura” from Bat for Lashes’ 2012 album The Haunted Man
