Listen to Richard Russell’s New Everything is Recorded EP Featuring Sampha, Warren Ellis, More

Richard Russell has released a new EP under the moniker Everything is Recorded, Close But Not Quite. The XL Recordings head revealed last year that he’d been working at his Residence La Revolution studio in London on numerous collaborative songs. Artists pictured in the Everything Is Recorded sessions included Brian Eno, Mark Ronson, Peter Gabriel, Warren Ellis, XL signees Ibeyi and Sampha, Giggs, Wiki, and more; he later performed two new songs with Sampha for his radio show. In addition to the title track with Sampha—which samples Curtis Mayfield’s “The Makings of You”—the new Close But Not Quite EP also features songs with Giggs (on a song sampling Russell’s Gil Scott-Heron production “Me and the Devil”), Obongjayar alongside Ellis, and Infinite and Mela Murder on a track with Scritti Politti’s Green Gartside. Check out the full EP via the YouTube playlist below. More releases from Everything is Recorded are set to come later this year.
