Load Records Shutters After 24 Years

Load Records, the Providence-based label founded in 1993 by Ben McOsker and Laura Mullen, is closing up shop after 24 years. During its run, the experimental and noise-focused label released records from Prurient, Lightning Bolt, Excepter, Khanate, Metalux, Neon Hunk, and more. “After 24 years of Load Records its time to move on,” the label said in a Facebook post. “Will be contacting bands to arrange next steps. Thanks for a great ride.” In another, they added, “Laura and I appreciate all your words and memories. There are still lots of weird and wonderful bands and labels – buy from them. I will be.” The homepage of the label’s website has a headstone on it that simply reads “good effort.”
