Lower Dens Share “To Die in L.A.” Video

Lower Dens have shared a video for their song “To Die in L.A.”, from their forthcoming album Escape From Evil. Watch it below. Escape from Evil is out March 31 via Ribbon Music.

Directed by SSION’s Cody Critcheloe, the video depicts the clichéd life of a Los Angeles woman, played by actress/musician Actually Huizenga. In a press release, Critcheloe said, “The song inspired me to write the treatment around my friend/muse/singer/actress/goddess Actually Huizenga. She’s this quintessential ’80s LA summerbabe in the video, simultaneously delusional and intelligent, dressed up in all of my current obsessions/impressions of L.A. as an outsider…”

Lower Dens singer Jana Hunter added that the song was inspired by the 1985 film To Live and Die in L.A. “Both the song and the film [To Live and Die in L.A.] are about something wild, careless, exciting and tragic,” she said in a press release. “The video needed to reflect that. Cody was the obvious choice. The first time I saw him in person, he was on top of a crowd in Monterrey, pelvic-thrusting and singing, as SSION. I fell in love immediately. Who better to translate this ode to reckless firebrands.”

They’ve also announced a short tour—check out the dates below.
