Late last year, Lupe Fiasco announced that he would release three albums in 2016: Droga, Skulls, and Roy. Today, he has said that Roy ”will be [his] last album.” Check out his tweets detailing his plans below.
It is unclear what Lupe Fiasco means by “last album.” He previously hinted that The Cool 2 (the follow-up to 2007′s The Cool) would be released in 2017, as XXL points out. His latest tweet could potentially put the future of The Cool 2 in jeopardy.
Update (1/8, 8:08 p.m., EST): In response to fans on Twitter, Lupe Fiasco has continued to say that Roy will be his “final and last album.” He also says The Cool 2 will come in “winter 2017,” after Roy‘s planned release, but has not elaborated further on what that project will entail. Find the new tweets below.
Lupe Fiasco recently announced a 2016 tour that begins next week. His last album, Tetsuo & Youth, came out in January of last year.
