Mark Kozelek Trash Talks the War on Drugs During Ottawa Folk Festival Set

Mark Kozelek, the man who declared that all “fuckin’ hillbillies” at his Sun Kil Moon Hopscotch show should “shut the fuck up” (and then commemorated the occasion with a t-shirt), had some harsh words for the War on Drugs during his set yesterday at the Ottawa Folk Festival.
The War on Drugs’ set at the main stage overlapped with Kozelek’s set. According to Exclaim’s review, noise bled over to Kozelek’s stage. “Who the fuck is that,” he asked. When the audience informed him, he said, “I hate that beer commercial lead-guitar shit.” Then, he introduced his next song by saying, “This next song is called ‘The War on Drugs Can Suck My Fucking Dick’.”
Through the rest of his set, he talked more trash about the band, calling them “John Cougar Mellencamp”.
