Morrissey Says His Next Two Shows Will Be His Last in the UK

Morrissey has said that his next two shows in the United Kingdom will be the last times he performs in his home country, Stereogum notes. He claims that there is no use in touring without any planned future releases. Read the full statement below via fansite True to You.

There is absolutely no way that we can generate any interest from record labels in the United Kingdom, therefore the imminent two nights at Hammersmith are likely to be our final ever UK shows. We are obsessively grateful for all interest and loyalty from our audience … throughout 28 years … but without new releases, there is no point in any additional touring. Thank you for so many absolutely incredible times. The pleasure and privilege is mine …

Record labels Capitol and Harvest dropped Morrissey last year following the release of his album World Peace Is None of Your Business. Morrissey responded by outfitting his band in “Fuck Harvest” t-shirts on his tour.

The supposed final two UK shows will take place on Sunday September 20 and Monday September 21 at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London.

Morrissey’s debut novel List of the Lost is out in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand on September 24.
