New Brainiac Documentary Features Wayne Coyne, Steve Albini, More
A new Kickstarter campaign is looking to crowdfund a new documentary film on Brainiac, the influential Dayton, Ohio band formed by Tim Taylor in the early 1990s that disbanded after Taylor was tragically killed in a car accident in 1997. Brainiac was close to inking a major label deal and had just gotten off a European tour with Beck when the accident took place. The new documentary, directed by Eric Mahoney, features appearances from Steve Albini, Wayne Coyne, Melvins’ Buzz Osborne, Cedric Bixler-Zavala, Jim O’Rourke, and more. The film will explore “the ’90′s Dayton music scene, Brainiac’s legacy and how people survive and cope with the loss of loved ones.” So far, the film has raised over 20% of its necessary budget—find the Kickstarter here.
