Nick Diamonds (Unicorns/Islands/"Serial") Directs Film Starring Michael Cera, Tim Heidecker
Earlier this year, Nick Thorburn – of The Unicorns, Islands, Mister Heavenly, and the music of the “Serial” podcast – released City of Quartz, his latest solo album as Nick Diamonds. Today, he’s announced his first short film, That Dog.
Written and directed by Thorburn and starring Michael Cera, Tim Heidecker, and Natasha Leggero, the fifteen-minute film chronicles three residents of an apartment complex who “raise social awkwardness and crass insensitivity to the level of art form,” according to its description. The film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, which takes place September 10-20. Check out a trailer below.

Cera previously played with Mister Heavenly and starred in Islands videos. He also teamed up with Thorburn’s Unicorns bandmate Alden Penner for an EP and tour this year.
