Nicki Minaj Denies “Slamming” Kanye With “White Girl” Comments

Nicki Minaj is the subject of a new cover story in the upcoming issue of Marie Claire (out in full on October 18). Over the weekend, the Daily Mail reported that Nicki “slammed” Kanye West and Kim Kardashian in the interview, saying, “I’m so tired of black women feeling that when our men get rich, they’re going to leave them for a woman of a different race.” She reportedly continued by quoting West’s Late Registration single “Gold Digger”: “It wasn’t funny when Kanye said, ‘When he get on, he’ll leave your ass for a white girl’—and Kanye happens to be with a white girl now.”

Nicki has now clarified that she was not, in fact, “slamming” West, but praising his honesty. She also acknowledged that West “gave [her] one of the biggest looks of [her] career,” in reference to her iconic verse on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’s “Monster.” See her tweets below.

Pitchfork has reached out to Nicki Minaj and Marie Claire’s representatives for more information.
