Nicki Minaj Was Joking About That New Album
In a tweet, Nicki Minaj announced that her new studio album is being released at midnight tonight. “Ok u know what I wasn’t gonna say anything but damn ya got it out of me,” it reads. “The album drops at midnight. it’s called #PickMyFruitOut.” In a reply to a fan, Minaj previously said, “Everything happens at the RIGHT time. Not the most requested time, not the predicted time. BUT the RIGHT time.”
She later confirmed that the tweet was a joke—“I been cryin’ laughin’ this whole time, btw…”—but before that, Minaj shared the fake tracklist for the album, with most of the songs named after fruits (including one titled “Bananas (Harambe Interlude)”). She also said the last song features her “favorite rapper of all time,” and is called “Nigga Toss My Fruit Salad.”
Minaj’s latest album, The Pinkprint, was released in 2014.
