Nils Frahm Releases Free Album Solo

Berlin-based composer Nils Frahm has declared it Piano Day, a new annual celebration of the instrument that takes place on the 88th day of any year. (Instrument fact: a piano has 88 keys!) “Piano Day is intended to be the most joyful of all holidays,” he writes. To celebrate, he’s released an album called Solo via Erased Tapes. Download it for free here and listen to “Wall” above.

The solo piano LP is also available on vinyl, CD, and iTunes. If you purchase the record, proceeds will go to help piano builder builder David Klavins build his latest model, the Klavins M450. Frahm’s new album was recorded using a prototype of the instrument. Donate here and buy the album here.

Frahms is hoping to organize a festival on Piano Day 2017 in Berlin.
