NY Gov Cuomo’s First Spotify Playlist: Lou Reed, Tom Waits, Gaga, More

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today that Spotify will move its United States headquarters to 4 World Trade Center in New York City. To mark the occasion, Gov. Cuomo has shared a new Spotify playlist called “Excelsior Vol. 1.” It’s his first for the site, and includes songs by New Yorkers and about New York, as well as tracks his daughters have shown him. Among the artists on the playlist are Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, Lou Reed, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, and, of course, Jay Z and Alicia Keys with “Empire State of Mind.” Stream Gov. Cuomo’s “Excelsior Vol. 1” below.

Spotify’s move to 4WTC will create over 1,000 new jobs and retain over 800, according to a press release. The company, which currently has offices in Midtown South, will relocate in early 2018.

In the past, Spotify tapped Barack Obama to create playlists for the streaming service. He made multiple summer playlists, as well as another for working out. Joe Biden also made his own summer playlist.
