Other Music to Say Goodbye With Farewell Parade

Other Music to Say Goodbye With Farewell Parade

The Manhattan record store Other Music has been in business at 15 E. 4th St. since 1995, but on Saturday, June 25 it will shut its doors. Over the years, the store has hosted a number of in-store performances, and on Tuesday, June 28, Other Music will hold its final show, BrooklynVegan reports. Instrumental duo 75 Dollar Bill (who have released music on the store’s label, Other Music Recordings) will give the last performance at 5:30 p.m. Eastern. After the show, 75 Dollar Bill will bring up the rear on an Other Music farewell parade, led by jazz artist Matana Roberts. The parade is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Eastern, and will go from the record store to Bowery Ballroom, where several musicians wave goodbye to the shop, with the “Other Music Forever” concert.

Other Music Forever will feature performances from Yo La Tengo, Sharon Van Etten, Julianna Barwick, Frankie Cosmos, John Zorn’s Simulacrum, Helado Negro, and other special guests. Find more details here.
