OutKast Class Being Offered at Georgia College

Outkast are getting an entire college course dedicated to them. Dr. Regina Bradley, a professor in the Languages, Literature and Philosophy department at Armstrong State University in Savannah, Georgia, is offering a class called “OutKast and the Rise of the Hip-Hop South,” as the Fader points out. The new class is an upper-level English course and will focus on how André 3000 and Big Boi’s “ideas about the South and southernness seep into other Southern writers.” The final project for the course is a paper discussing the themes in a given hip-hop album (“preferably an Outkast album”), according to the Savannah Morning News. Bradley is currently working on a book about Outkast, Chronicling Stankonia: OutKast and the Rise of the Hip Hop South.
