Passion Pit Giving Away New Album in Exchange for Tweets Supporting Science

Passion Pit have been releasing new songs throughout 2017, seemingly gearing up to release the follow-up to their 2015 album Kindred. Now, band leader Michael Angelakos has announced that he’ll send free digital copies of the new album, Tremendous Sea of Love, to fans who retweet his tweet supporting neuroscientist Michael F. Wells, recently took over Passion Pit’s Twitter account to answer questions about scientific research and mental illness. Wells and researcher Erika Siegel have spent the past couple of days on the account responding to queries with the hashtag #weneedscience, discussing mental health, physical health, and more.

Angelakos has also offered more information about TSOL in a note on Twitter. He writes, “Tremendous Sea of Love is an album for us, for me and for you.” Later, he adds, “each song was quickly rendered, or written the night before it was uploaded, was mixed to the best of my ability (after years of people telling me I couldn’t mix). They were not perfect, but they were honest.” Read his full note below.

Angelakos had been posting songs with the caption “#seaoflove,” on the YouTube page for the Wishart Group, his new company dedicated to supporting artists with legal, educational, and healthcare services. Most of the songs have now been taken down. Listen to one of the remaining tracks, “You Have the Right (iPhone Demo),” below.
