Pavement Have "Great News Coming Soon"

Stay tuned: Pavement have announced that they have “great news coming soon”. On a note published April 9 on the band’s new Facebook page (found, and later confirmed, by Stereogum), founding member Scott Kannberg – better known by his alias Spiral Stairs – thanked fans for their support and teased surprises to come. The post reads:

hi pavement fans… spiral here. we’ve taken back our page after all these years… thanks to the fine folks at matador. and thanks to you for supporting us! there’s some great news coming soon… in the meantime, we will be randomly posting stuff from the archive. 

hope you enjoy!

Other Pavement members chimed in; Bob Nastanovich posted, “Happy to be an admin/reporter on this page. [Steve] West is hanging in Nashville with David.  Is that newsworthy? Bob in Iowa,” and hinted at a possible contest to win “some Pavement relics from the ’90s and 2010″ in the future.

Another admin, whose identity is uncertain, quashed any hopes of another reunion tour (they hit the road back in 2010) for the time being: “As I understand it, live perfs[performances] are ruled out for ’15 but not ’16, beyond.” Back in February, Nastanovich stated in an interview that frontman Stephen Malkmus had nixed the idea of getting back together, but if and when this tour does happen, “deep cuts will feature”, according to the admin. 

Over on Twitter, Malkmus offered no answers:
