This January, Petite Noir, aka Yannick Ilunga, released the EP The King of Anxiety, the Cape Town artist’s debut release on Domino. On September 11, he’ll follow it up with a full-length, La Vie Est Belle / Life Is Beautiful. You can watch a video for “Down” below. It was shot on the streets of Lubumbashi, when Ilunga, who is half-Angolan, half-Congolese, paid a recent visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Update 6/23 10:27 AM: Check out the album artwork above.
On July 14, Petite Noir will play a show at Brooklyn’s Lot 45. It’s hosted by Afropunk Festival, where he’ll perform on August 23.
