Pitchfork.tv is seeking a Channel Manager to join the team at our Brooklyn headquarters.

The Channel Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day organizational, technical, and logistical operations of Pitchfork.tv. These duties generally include managing the programming schedule, exporting, encoding, converting, uploading, and publishing all video content. The Channel Manager will be responsible for keeping all project files and deliverables organized, including local and online storage and general management of our YouTube channel. This position will also oversee and maintain all of Pitchfork.tv’s production and post-production equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prep and export master files for each project, and encode additional formats as needed.
  • Publish all of Pitchfork.tv’s content to both YouTube and the Pitchfork.com homepage, as well as other CDNs, as needed.
  • Maintain and organize Pitchfork.tv’s local and online media archives.
  • Manage and maintain a Video Data-Bank that includes all meta-data and general information for all video content in our library.
  • Recommend, implement, and manage video SEO and YouTube best practices, including: titles, tags, descriptions, thumbnails, annotations, etc.
  • Maintain and manage production and post-production equipment, including cameras, lenses, lights, workstations, storage, accessories, as well as equipment rentals, as needed.
  • Coordinate and maintain internal communication between the News, Social Media, Design, and Development Departments.

Qualifications:

  • Expertise with Final Cut Pro (7 & X) required
  • Expert user on YouTube platform and YouTube CMS required
  • Expertise with YouTube Analytics (YTA)
  • Strong knowledge of video compression workflows and best practices
  • Experience with a custom CMS
  • Broad knowledge of production and post-production equipment required
  • Basic web development skills a plus
  • Intermediate Excel / Google Spreadsheet skills
  • Intermediate skill with Adobe Photoshop desired
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work within tight deadlines
  • Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • SEO experience a plus
