Polaris Music Prize 2016: Watch Carly Rae Jepsen, White Lung, Jessy Lanza Perform

The 2016 Polaris Music Prize Gala, which honors the year’s best album by a Canadian artist, took place tonight at the Carlu in Toronto. Before the winner was announced, several artists on the shortlist performed songs from their nominated albums. Carly Rae Jepsen, White Lung, Jessy Lanza, U.S. Girls, Andy Shauf, Black Mountain, and Basia Bulat all performed. Watch the entire show below.

Jepsen was accompanied by members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and after her performance, Dev Hynes discussed her album in a video package. U.S. Girls covered John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s “Born in a Prison” and received a tribute from Iggy Pop. Grimes, Kaytranada, and PUP did not perform, but were also honored at the gala.

Last year’s award went to Buffy Sainte-Marie’s album Power in the Blood.
