Preview Prince’s Paisley Park Museum in “Today Show” Video

Prince’s Paisley Park Studios will soon open as a museum, with tours available to the public. Ahead of the first tours tomorrow, Al Roker went to Chanhassen on “Today” to give fans a sneak peek inside Prince’s famous compound, as The Hollywood Reporter points out. He goes through a number of the rooms, including the Purple Rain room, which plays the film and has Prince’s keyboard and guitar, as well as the movie’s script, Oscar award, pieces from the wardrobe, and iconic motorcycle. Roker also reveals that Prince was recording a jazz album before his death; it will eventually be released, he said. Elsewhere in the video, there are handwritten notes, Grammys, paintings, and more. Watch the tour preview, which includes conversation with Prince’s family, below.

The Paisley Park museum was planned to open fully tomorrow. The Chanhassen City Council, however, voted to table the zoning request that would reclassify the studios as a museum due to concerns about increased tourism in the area. For now, Paisley Park “has temporary permit for certain days” to give tours. After tomorrow, there’s a tour on Saturday and next Thursday, but the official opening might be delayed until December.
