Prince has been performing solo concerts—just him, a piano, and a microphone. Last night during a show in Melbourne, Australia, he spent some time remembering the late Vanity. Before “Little Red Corvette,” he said, “I just found out a little while ago that someone dear to us has passed away, so I’m going to dedicate this song to her.” Watch the performance below at the 7:40 mark via BillboardUpdate (2/17 8:17 a.m.): The video has been removed.

Throughout the night, he reportedly changed various lyrics to reference Vanity. According to News Corp Australia, he talked to the audience quite a bit, acknowledging that “it’s a little heavy for me tonight.” Before telling a story about how he once ordered a bodyguard to throw Vanity in a swimming pool, he said:

“Can I tell you a story about Vanity? Or should I tell you a story about Denise? Her and I used to love each other deeply. She loved me for the artist I was, I loved her for the artist she was trying to be. She and I would fight. She was very headstrong ’cause she knew she was the finest woman in the world. She never missed an opportunity to tell you that.”
