Prince Returns to Streaming Services on Sunday
It’s official: Prince’s music will return to streaming services this Sunday, NPR reports. Napster confirmed to NPR rumors that Prince’s Warner Bros. catalog, which includes classic albums like Purple Rain, 1999, Sign O’ the Times, and Dirty Mind, will arrive the same day as the Grammys. Previously, sources told Pitchfork that Prince’s Warner music would arrive on Apple Music, Amazon Music, and iHeartRadio’s subscription services simultaneously along with all other streaming services.
Update 2/10 4:20 p.m.: Spotify has confirmed to the BBC that Prince’s Warner catalog will return to the service on Sunday before the Grammys.
It has not yet been announced what time on Sunday the music will be released.
The Purple One’s discography has not been available on any streaming platform (with the exception of Tidal) since 2015.
In other Prince news, today Universal Music Group announced that it had signed a deal with Prince’s estate to manage Prince’s non-Warner Bros. NPG Records catalog as well as unreleased material, Billboard reports. This paves the way for the future release of music from Prince’s storied vault of recordings from throughout his career.

Correction: An earlier version of this story stated that Napster sent out a press release announcing Prince’s music coming to their service on Sunday. This was based on NPR’s reporting. NPR has since updated their story to indicate that no press release was issued.
