Rick Ross Strikes Plea Deal in Assault and Kidnapping Case: Report

Rick Ross was indicted in a Georgia court last year for allegedly pistol-whipping a groundskeeper at his home in 2015. Ross argued that he was acting in self-defense. The rapper was formally charged and indicted by a Fayette County grand jury on nine counts including kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony. Now, Ross has allegedly struck a plea deal, TMZ reports. As part of the deal, he reportedly pled no contest to one felony count of aggravated assault; the other felony charges were dropped. Ross has been ordered to pay a $10,000 fine, and he’s also allegedly been given 60 months probation after pleading no contest to misdemeanor charges of assault, battery, firearm possession, and marijuana possession. After he pays the fine, the conviction will reportedly be erased from his record.

Ross was arrested in June 2015 for allegedly pistol-whipping a man working at one of his homes and preventing him from leaving. According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the initial warrants said Ross chipped the man’s teeth with a gun and hurt the man’s jaw so severely he was “restricted to soft foods and liquid diet.” The kidnapping charges reportedly relate to the alleged victim being “questioned under duress and forced to answer questions at gunpoint.” Ross was later released on bond.
