Robyn Premieres New Song “Honey” on “Girls”: Listen

Robyn shared a new song on this week’s episode of HBO’s “Girls.” It’s called “Honey.” Listen to a clip of the new track below. The Lena Dunham-fronted show is currently in its final season. Robyn recently joined the xx on stage to perform “With Every Heartbeat” with the band. Her last proper solo studio album, Body Talk, was released in 2010. As Robyn explained in the below Instagram post, Dunham asked her if there was any music she could use for the show, and selected “Honey” from a batch of tracks that Robyn sent her. “It wasn’t ready to be released, but i finished this version for her and ‘Girls,’” Robyn wrote. According to a post from Dunham, “Honey” will be on Robyn’s forthcoming album.

 

After Lena used Dancing On My Own in the first season of Girls, in the most amazing way, i was so happy she asked me if she could put another of my songs in the series. I sent her some music im working on and she picked Honey. It wasnt ready to be released, but i finished this version for her and Girls ❤. Thank you @lenadunham for making this tv-show that flips my brain like a burger like 15 times every episode, i love that feeling! And for bringing up all these emotionally complex situations in such a brilliant way, without making excuses. And thank you for asking me to make music for your work. I wouldnt want to miss out on making music for Adams movie for anything. #girls

I’m just as obsessed with the music on Girls as anyone (wrong that I listen to our soundtrack most days in the shower?) and it was the biggest honor to have @robynkonichiwa create a version of a track from her upcoming album just for the show. We knew the last season needed some Robyn- after all, Hannah would not be Hannah without a lot of dancing on her own ❤️ Thank you Robyn, queen of space and sound! Come get your Honey baby
