Ryan Adams Chats With Taylor Swift About Songwriting, Siri, the Smiths

Ryan Adams recently released his full-album cover version of Taylor Swift‘s 1989. In conjunction with GQ‘s cover story, Adams and Swift sat down to chat about Siri, their sources of inspiration, where they jot down their ideas, and their different approaches to songwriting. Check it out below.

At one point, Adams tells Swift, “Whenever I’m stuck when I’m writing, I could just put a Smiths record on, and it’s kind of like if my songwriting was an iPhone, it recharges it in like, five minutes.” Swift tells him that she looked to John Hughes movies for inspiration when writing 1989.
