This week, Ryan Adams announced he was covering Taylor Swift‘s 1989 LP in its entirety. Well, Adams is fast at work on the final product: On his Twitter and Instagram, he’s previewed snippets of his reworked “Out of the Woods” and “All You Had to Do Was Stay”. You can listen to them below. He also posted the above art (which was designed by Scissorsaurus), a very inspired riff on Sonic Youth’s Goo cover that Swift should start selling at her concerts.

Additionally, Adams offered notes on some of those covers. On a “spooky” version of “Shake It Off”, which he said is arranged like Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire”: “It sounds like it could have been in True Detective in a driving scene or smthng.” He also likened his version of “Out of the Woods” to the Smiths “That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore”, and called it “maybe the best sad song I ever did.”
