Sex Pistols Name and Artwork To Be Featured On Virgin Money Credit Cards

Sex Pistols‘ name and artwork will soon appear on a collection of credit cards from Virgin Money, the bank backed by Richard Branson, the Guardian reports. Two of the credit cards from the series will feature artwork from the band’s 1977 album Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols, while another card will feature imagery related to the band’s 1976 single “Anarchy in the UK”, which incidentally features the line “your future dream is a shopping scheme”.

Virgin Money has referenced the series using the coda that it’s “time for consumers to put a little bit of rebellion in their pocket”.

Sex Pistols were signed by Virgin Records under Sir Richard Branson 38 years ago, in 1977. Michele Greene, the bank’s director of cards, is quoted in the Guardian as saying: “In launching these cards, we wanted to celebrate Virgin’s heritage and difference. The Sex Pistols challenged convention and the established ways of thinking – just as we are doing today in our quest to shake up UK banking.”

“Even after nearly 40 years, the Sex Pistols’ power to provoke is undimmed,” Branson added.

According to the report, most of the cards have an interest rate of 18.9% APR.
