Slayer on Trump Photo Controversy: “Like Him or Not He Is the President”

Slayer’s Tom Araya has criticized fans who objected to his photoshopped picture of Donald Trump and the band, as Stereogum points out. Noting mixed reactions to the photo, Araya said he “thought it was funny” and that anyone who disagrees should keep quiet. “I never would have guessed that there where so many snowflakes commenting their distaste for the new president,” he wrote. “Like him or not he is the president.” Read the comment in full below.

As Stereogum’s Michael Nelson points out, Araya used the comments section to continue mocking those who objected to the picture.

Like, not even getting into the “snowflakes” and “fruits” shit, which is indefensibly gross. pic.twitter.com/s2cyYGtHPu

The user @zogar77, to whom Araya was responding with the “turning fruits into vegetables” comment, replied: “I happen to be gay @slayerbandofficial so fuck you and your fruits to vegetables comment. Go crawl up Pence’s arse.”

Araya also commented: “thanks [...] to everybody that has commented thanks for insight… this is how fake news gets started, not once did I say that I supported trump… and assuming I speak for the band you are mistaking .. the picture did exactly what I thought it would do… piss some of you off.”
