Spoon Announce New Album Hot Thoughts

Spoon have announced a new album, Hot Thoughts. During an interview on SiriusXM Volume’s “Debatable,” one of the hosts revealed the title, which nobody in the band disputed. One of the band members also said that it’s out March 17 before the others claimed they didn’t know the exact date. They agreed, however, that it will likely be out in March, indicating that the timing could line up for them maybe to perform at SXSW. Pitchfork has reached out to Spoon’s representatives for more information and comment.

Elsewhere in the discussion, they acknowledged the new songs they played at a “secret” show. They said “it was cool” to see how people responded to the new material. Listen to the interview here (via Consequence of Sound).

Since the release of their last album, They Want My Soul, Spoon reissued their 2005 album Gimme Fiction for its 10-year anniversary. In 2015, they crashed (and performed at) a Spoon cover band’s show. In 2016, Daniel and Alex Fischel debuted a new song at a Mexico City concert. Spoon fueled speculation about a new record in December when they posted a mysterious image across their social media accounts and on their website.
