“Steven Universe” Soundtrack Album Announced

Steven Universe,” the Cartoon Network series that features the voices of Estelle and Tom Scharpling (of “The Best Show” and Scharpling & Wurster fame), has announced its first soundtrack album. It’s out June 2. In addition to the show’s theme song (“We Are the Crystal Gems”), Steven Universe Soundtrack: Volume 1 will include songs heard throughout the Emmy-nominated series’ 120-plus episodes. The show, which centers on the adventures of a half-human boy and his magical team of guardians, has featured guest appearances from Nicki Minaj and Aimee Mann, as well as Jon Wurster, Brian Posehn, Lisa Hannigan, and Mike Krol.

“I am so excited about this album that I hardly have the words,” the show’s creator Rebecca Sugar said in a statement. “We poured our hearts into these songs and now they’re finally collected and stunningly re-mastered by our composers Aivi & Surrasshu.” Listen to the show’s theme song above via Entertainment Weekly.
