The Avalanches Tease New Song “Subways” Via Hotline

The Avalanches have long been at work on the follow up to 2000′s well-loved Since I Left You, and we’ve heard all sorts of rumors about what the album might sound like. Today, following Darren Seltmann’s departure from the group last year, they’ve finally teased some new music, as Stereogum points out. It emerged after Redditors spotted a phone number at the bottom of posters seen in London: +44 800 098 8938. Dial the number and “Subways” plays. Update (11:51 a.m.): A U.S. number is now available. Dial in at (855) 953-3597.

The Avalanches have been suddenly active in 2016, following a long period of dormancy. In April, they updated their social media accounts. They followed that by announcing a series of festival shows, a rarity; their last DJ set was in 2011 and their last live performance was in 2007. They recently dropped a teaser video wherein Father John Misty, Ariel Pink, Danny Brown, and other artists talk about them, heightening speculation that the long-awaited Since I Left You follow-up will be imminently released.
