The Kinks’ Ray Davies Knighted For Services to the Arts

The Kinks’ Ray Davies has been awarded knighthood, officially making him Sir Raymond Douglas Davies. The 72-year-old was knighted during a ceremony by Prince Charles earlier today, which he called “quite moving with the music and the theatrics,” the Telegraph reports. He was initially awarded the CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) back in 2004. Davies also revealed that he is working on a new musical about siblings; his own contentious relationship with brother and fellow Kink, Dave Davies, is well documented. The pair briefly reunited to play together for the first time in two decades at a 2015 show in London. Earlier this year, Ray Davies announced his first solo album of new material in nearly a decade, Americana. Watch the knighting ceremony below.
