The Strokes Get Political in “Threat of Joy” Video: Watch

The Strokes recently released their new EP Future Present Past. They have already shared the video for its song “Drag Queen,” and today, the band have put out the “Threat of Joy” visual. Directed by Warren Fu, it begins with a video shoot for the EP’s “OBLIVIUS,” before a special agent comes and steals the footage. A message then appears that reads: “Due to circumstances we are not at liberty to discuss, we are unable to present the music video for ‘OBLIVIUS.’ Instead, please enjoy a special presentation of the Strokes in…‘Threat of Joy.’” (Julian Casablancas had told Zane Lowe in an interview earlier this month that the “OBLIVIUS” video got too political to release.) During the rest of the video, the band perform in a studio as men with guns secure the premises and others in pig masks try to steal more footage. Watch it below (via Noisey).
