Thurston Moore Releasing New Single in Support of Chelsea Manning

Thurston Moore has announced a new single to be released in support of the campaign to free U.S. Army Prvt. Chelsea Manning. Manning was sentenced to 35 years in military prison for sharing information on WikiLeaks. Among that information was video of a U.S. helicopter attack that killed a dozen Iraqis, as well as uninvestigated reports of casualties, torture, and corporate interest in international diplomacy. Moore’s new single “Chelsea’s Kiss” b/w “Sad Saturday” will be released October 8 via Blank Editions as part of Cassette Store Day. Partial proceeds will go to the Chelsea Manning Support Network.

The track was recorded by Moore, Ryan Sawyer, Deb Googe (of My Bloody Valentine), and James Sedwards (of Nøught). A release party happens October 8 at Lion Coffee + Records in London.
