Trump Claims Bigger Crowds Than Beyoncé and Jay Z, Fact-Checkers Disagree

After comparing his own use of lewd language to that of Jay Z, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has claimed during a rally that he gets bigger crowds than Jay and Beyoncé, as Billboard points out. “Beyoncé and Jay Z, I like them, I like them,” he said at a rally last night in North Carolina. “And you know what they do? I get bigger crowds than they do. It’s true. I get far bigger crowds.” Watch that go down below.

Fact-checking organization Politifact has already debunked the claim, citing the draw of Jay Z and Beyoncé on their co-headlining On The Run tour in 2014. The average crowd size for that tour was 45,700 per concert, according to data from Billboard; in comparison, the average from a sampling of three Trump crowds is around 27,000 per rally, if Trump is taken at his word. “Based on the latest Billboard numbers, Trump draws crowds similar to Phish,” Politifact says.

During the same rally, Trump also mispronounced Beyoncé’s name, calling her “Beyoncy.” A Trump-supporting political commentator on CNN criticized Jay Z for his “anti-police” music video for Watch the Throne cut “No Church in the Wild,” saying it featured “mazel tov cocktails.”
