Trump Fights Snoop Dogg on Twitter, Apparently Has Nothing Better to Do

Republicans including Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio this week condemned Snoop Dogg’s new video for “Lavender,” in which he pulls a gun on a Trump lookalike in clown makeup. From his personal Twitter account, Trump has now expressed his own outrage at the video. He declared that, had Snoop targeted Obama, he’d have been imprisoned—as well as dropping in a slight against the rapper’s career. See the tweet below.

Can you imagine what the outcry would be if @SnoopDogg, failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!

After the release of the video for “Lavender”—a BADBADNOTGOOD/Kaytranada rework—Marco Rubio was among the first to voice dissent: “We’ve had presidents assassinated before in this country, so anything like that is really something we should be very careful about.” Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, added, “Snoop owes the president an apology.” Then, Ted Cruz told TMZ it’s “in poor taste to be making fun of murdering someone, and in particular assassinating the president.”

Pitchfork has emailed Snoop Dogg’s representatives for comment.
