Tyondai Braxton, Ex-Battles, Announces HIVE1, Shares "Scout1"

Former Battles member Tyondai Braxton has announced his latest album. HIVE1, his first release in six years (following 2009′s Central Market), is out May 12 via Nonesuch. He debuted “HIVE” at New York’s Guggenheim Museum in 2013, and later, he performed it around the world. Check out the nine-and-a-half-minute “Scout1″ from the album below.

“HIVE” was originally created as a multimedia work in collaboration with five musicians (sitting on oval pods). It was designed by Danish architect Uffe Surland Van Tams.

From March 27-29, Braxton will head perform a residency at the Knoxville Museum of Art as part of the annual Big Ears Festival. “HIVE” will be performed each day.
