Update: Joni Mitchell Reps Refute Coma Report

Update: Joni Mitchell Reps Refute Coma Report

UPDATE: Mitchell’s official website refutes TMZ’s report, saying “Joni is not in a coma.”

Joni is still in the hospital—but she comprehends, she’s alert, and she has her full senses. A full recovery is expected. The document obtained by a certain media outlet simply gives her longtime friend Leslie Morris the authority —in the absence of 24-hour doctor care—to make care decisions for Joni once she leaves the hospital. As we all know, Joni is a strong-willed woman and is nowhere near giving up the fight.

TMZ have responded by defending their story, citing legal documents that say “she remains unconscious”.

On March 31, Joni Mitchell was hospitalized. Though her exact condition was never disclosed, her representatives shared statements saying that her condition was improving. TMZ now reports that the iconic singer/songwriter is in a coma and unresponsive.

Billboard cite “multiple sources” who say her condition was worse than her representatives led the public to believe. “It’s very serious,” said one source.

According to TMZ, Joni’s friend Leslie Morris has filed legal documents to obtain conservatorship over Mitchell.
