Watch Andrew Bird and My Morning Jacket’s Jim James Play Acoustic Living Room Set

Earlier this month, Andrew Bird began a new series called “Live From the Great Room,” where he and guests perform an acoustic set in his living room. A recent session featured him playing folks songs with John C. Reilly and Tom Brosseau. Today’s installment featured My Morning Jacket’s Jim James. Both artists went barefoot and played protest songs. They began with a love song, “Love Is the Sweetest Thing,” before moving on to an updated version of Bird’s Soldier On cut “Sic of Elephants,” Woody Guthrie’s “Changing World,” Bird’s “Capsized” (another one Bird admitted was not a protest song), and the Velvet Underground’s “I’m Set Free.” Watch their set below.

Mandolinist Chris Thile will be Bird’s guest on tomorrow’s episode. At the end of today’s session, Bird announced that Reggie Watts will appear next Tuesday, July 26.
