Watch Arcade Fire’s Régine Chassagne Accept Humanitarian Honor at Juno Awards Gala

Last night, Arcade Fire received the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award during this year’s Juno Awards Gala Dinner & Awards. Régine Chassagne accepted the honor on the band’s behalf. In her acceptance speech, she spoke about her Montreal childhood as the daughter of Haitian immigrants. She also discussed how in 2006, Arcade Fire began donating a dollar of each concert ticket sold to Partners in Health, a nonprofit organization that helps provide health care to poverty-stricken areas of the world. The band has since raised over $4 million, trained volunteers, and engaged fans in supporting Haiti. Watch her whole speech below, via Arcade Fire Tube.

Also at the Gala, several artists won awards, as the CBC points out. Drake won Rap Recording of the Year for If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. The Weeknd won Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year (beating out Tobias Jesso Jr., among others), and R&B/Soul Recording of the Year for Beauty Behind the Madness. Adele got International Album of the Year for 25. Death From Above 1979 won Rock Album of the Year for The Physical World. And Justin Bieber’s Purpose earned him Pop Album of the Year.
