Watch Julien Baker Cover Bruce Springsteen’s “Badlands”

Julien Baker covered Bruce Springsteen’s “Badlands” (from 1978′s Darkness on the Edge of Town) during a backstage performance at last month’s Newport Folk Festival. Baker said that “It’s a song that always makes me feel better because it’s unashamedly triumphant. It’s about not being ashamed to be glad you’re alive and proud to do your best.” Her performance was filmed for MyMusicRx‘s “music medicine” program. MyMusicRx is a part of the Children’s Cancer Association, and they travel to festivals to record “SongRxs” (Song Prescriptions) that capture musicians performing songs that “especially inspires them,” according to a press release.  You can watch Baker’s cover below. Her last album was 2015′s Sprained Ankle.
