Watch Ryan Adams, Metallica Cover Soundgarden's “Black Hole Sun” for Chris Cornell

Ryan Adams, Metallica, U2, and Aerosmith paid tribute to Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell at their respective shows this weekend. As pointed out by Rolling Stone, Ryan Adams covered Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” during his concert in Auckland, New Zealand. Metallica’s Robert Trujillo also took on the Superunknown classic, incorporating the song’s melody into his bass solo at their Boston show. At U2’s Pasadena stop on the Joshua Tree tour, Bono dedicated “Running to Stand Still” to Cornell and his family. Finally, Aerosmith paid tribute to Cornell at their Batumi, Georgia show by projecting his image on the large screen and playing the original recording of “Black Hole Sun.” Steven Tyler bowed to the image before launching into “Dream On.” Find all the footage below.

Since Cornell’s death on May 17, he has been commemorated by Megadeth, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Corey Taylor (of Slipknot and Stone Sour), Bush, and many more. His death has been ruled a suicide by the Wayne County Medical Examiner.
