Watch Solange, Kelly Rowland, Nia Andrews Record A Seat at the Table Track

Solange has shared a new video of herself, Kelly Rowland, and Nia Andrews recording “Interlude: I Got So Much Magic, You Can Have It” from her excellent A Seat at the Table. She gave some context in the Instagram caption: “Real special ones [Nia Andrews] and [Kelly Rowland] wanted it to feel like that feeling you get, when you’re warming up for the talent show in junior high school… so I played them the demo like two times so we would still have the learning spirit. We did three takes, then we all had to rush and pick up our sons.”

She also noted that she wrote the interlude after writing “Junie,” her song inspired by the late Walter “Junie” Morrison, whom she recently eulogized. She closes, “still thinking about the super spirit.” Watch them record “Interlude: I Got So Much Magic, You Can Have It” below.

real special ones @nianiaandrews and @kellyrowland wanted it to feel like that feeling u get, when u warming up for the talent show in jr high school. nia and kelly are too good , so I played them the demo like two times so we would still have the learning spirit. we did 3 takes, then we all had to rush and pick up our sons. i appreciate them so much. when I first started writing junie and asked andre’ to jump on it….he pushed me to find some optimism and positivity in the narrative…to look forward and beyond with it. i wrote this right after, as kind of a joke. but i meant it. still thinking about junie. still thinking about the super spirit.
