Wilco Cancel Indiana Show Over Religious Freedom Restoration Act

Wilco have canceled their May 7 show in Indianapolis over the state’s controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act. The band called the law “thinly disguised legal discrimination” in a note on Facebook, adding, “Hope to get back to the Hoosier State someday soon, when this odious measure is repealed. Refunds available at point of purchase.”

The law has been widely criticized for allowing business owners to cite religion as grounds to refuse services to minorities, including members of the LGBT community. Yesterday, Indiana Governor Mike Pence appeared on ABC’s “This Week” to say that he won’t repeal the law.

The band are playing this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival at Union Park in Chicago. Find their tour itinerary here.
