ANOHNI Releases “Obama” Video, Implores President to Free Chelsea Manning

ANOHNI has shared the video for her song “Obama,” off her album HOPELESSNESS. It’s filmed in a similar style to past videos for songs from the album; watch it below.

In the video’s description, Anohni also shared a statement addressed to President Obama regarding the incarceration of Chelsea Manning, who is currently serving a 35-year prison sentence in maximum security for charges stemming from her leaking of classified information in 2010. “Obama, please let Chelsea Manning out of prison,” it reads. “Recognize her tremendous sacrifice, and her vulnerability… If you leave her in prison, you send the final message to our nation that the Obama administration brutally punished moral courage in these unforgiving United States.” She continued to say, “Show us the heart of the Obama administration now. The election is over. There is no political advantage left in allowing Chelsea to perish in prison.” Read the full statement here.
