Arcade Fire Plan David Bowie Memorial Parade

This Saturday (January 16), Arcade Fire and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band will pay tribute to David Bowie with a parade through the streets of New Orleans, as ArcadeFireTube points out. The official Facebook page for the event—which is being called “Pretty Things: A Second Line for Bowie”— instructs attendees to wear their “best Bowie outfit or something more strange.” 

Earlier this week, Arcade Fire’s Win Butler issued a statement on Bowie’s death. “I will take to the grave the moments we shared;” he wrote, “talking, playing music and collaborating as some of the most profound and memorable moments of my life.”

In other news, the organizers of the previously announced David Bowie tribute concert at Carnegie Hall have announced a second show at Radio City Music Hall that’ll take place April 1, as The New York Times reports. Additionally, Cat Power, R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe, and Laurie Anderson will participate in one or both of the concerts. Heart’s Ann Wilson and the Polyphonic Spree have also been announced for the April 1 show.
