Beyoncé, Pearl Jam, Coldplay to Headline New York's Global Citizen Festival

On September 26, the 2015 Global Citizen Festival will take place at New York’s Great Lawn in Central Park. As Billboard reports, curator Chris Martin has snagged Beyoncé, Pearl Jam, and Ed Sheeran to headline the event, as well as Coldplay themselves. The event is part of the Global Poverty Project, a UN-backed campaign to eradicate extreme poverty by 2030.

Free tickets are available from the festival website, where fans can apply by pledging to take an “Action Journey,” which will involve making phone calls, volunteering, or taking part in an effort to encourage the U.S. State Department to commit 50 percent of its foreign aid budget to the world’s poorest countries. The event will stream worldwide via MSNBC, YouTube, NBC, iHeartRadio, TIDAL, and BBC Worldwide.

Of the bookings, Martin said, “We love the Global Citizen movement and we love opening for Beyoncé so this ticks both boxes.”
