Danger Mouse Launches 30th Century Records With Compilation Featuring the Arcs, Autolux, More

Danger Mouse recently announced that he was launching his own Columbia Records imprint, 30th Century Records. He’ll introduce the label with a new compilation called, simply, 30th Century Records Compilation Volume 1. It’s out December 18 and features Dan Auerbach’s band the Arcs, Autolux, and more. Today, the producer has shared two tracks from the forthcoming collection: Former Yellowbirds/Apollo Sunshine member Sam Cohen’s “Lose Your Illusion” and Nine Pound Shadow’s “Melody”. Listen to both below via NPR.

Speaking with NPR about the new collection, Danger Mouse emphasized the importance of retaining the individual artists’ unique sounds and perspectives:

I’m not trying to shape the way these bands sound on the label at all. I’m looking for things that I like or that I connect with in some way that maybe other people are not, other labels are not really jumping on for whatever reason. Or maybe something that I hear first and think, you know, I could help them and put them with this producer or put them with this person. And sometimes it’s just, if somebody wants to bring me songs and say, ‘What do you think of these?’ I can even just tell them that way. That’s still a way to help them.
